Who is this for?
As a leader, you are taking responsibility for enabling others to act out of a shared vision in the face of uncertainty. Whether this is part of your formal job description as an Executive Director, board member or team leader, or you are exercising leadership in less formal, more self-organised initiatives or networks - you are doing an increasingly important and complex job.
The world may be getting more unhinged by the day, but that doesn’t mean you stop caring about acting in integrity with your values. For you this means aspiring to a vision of a world that works for all life. With the people you lead you are making an important contribution to this vision. But it’s not always easy…
Challenges you might be facing
Balancing ‘prescriptive’ leadership (holding ultimate responsibility and accountability for everything) with ‘enabling/leading from behind’ and giving people agency to address their own challenges
Because you’re in an exposed position, people expect a lot from you: always know what to do, be transparent, be just, be self-critical and do it fast. Sometimes you feel under enormous pressure.
In an increasingly hostile communication environment you are hyper-aware of the possibility of being publicly called out for a misstep. To navigate this worry takes energy you’d rather spend on something else.
You sometimes may be reluctant to accept the responsibility that you’re being asked to assume as a leader. It feels more comfortable to imagine that everyone is equal and has the same amount of power - though you also feel very frustrated when people don’t follow your lead.
Often you wish you would have more support and people wouldn’t come to you for everything. At the same time you find it difficult to let go and trust that others will find their own way of achieving excellence.
What you might be longing for in your work
Flow: Transforming a feeling of “pushing against” or “pulling along” to moving in the same direction together
Purpose: renewing and deepening your connection with your purpose for taking on leadership responsibility
Empowerment: seeing clearly which specific steps you can take to enable others to act out of your shared vision
Orientation: refining your story of how exactly your team is achieving purpose in times of unprecedented uncertainty
Integrity: assuming a posture that neither diminishes your role and the power and responsibility that come with it, nor over inflates it
Companionship: being seen for the effort you’re making and the challenges you experience by peers who truly appreciate what it’s like
Our Approach
We’ve all experienced the challenges we mentioned earlier. And we know that you have what it takes to move beyond them. Our approach is not to prescribe solutions, but rather to help you sort through the complexity of your thoughts to distinguish what’s true about the situation, yourself and other people from the story you might be telling yourself. By working in a group setting you’ll learn from other participants’ explorations as well as practice supporting each other on an eye-to-eye level.
Jonas’ approach to coaching is highly informed by his training in the ontological coaching model. At the heart of his approach is the belief that everyone has the capacity to make the contribution they are here to make and live a life that is truly meaningful. By seeing what your unique contribution is and anchoring in the meaning of it, you become able to also recognize what has been stopping you from producing results with ease. With Jonas’ support, you’ll learn how to recognize internal stopping points as they come up and shift your focus to what’s more interesting and important to you.
Jocelyn’s approach is highly informed by Internal Family Systems and Nonviolent Communication. By offering compassion and empathy she supports you to identify the underlying needs that drive your vision and to find new strategies of meeting those needs when the old ones are not fit for the job anymore.
Richard’s approach is grounded in his personal experience of building organisations and social movements, where he navigated the complexities of collaborative leadership firsthand. Having worked with leaders across dozens of countries, he’s developed a keen understanding of common challenges and built a toolkit of practical strategies, resources, and practices to help leaders thrive. He provides a calm, friendly, and encouraging space where you feel supported yet challenged to confront what’s holding you back. He’ll help you move towards your goals with clarity and confidence.
Program Structure
Plotting the Course
We’ll kick off our 8-week journey by making space for the energy of vision to come through and land together in what we aspire to as leaders. In a 90-minute workshop, you’ll get a chance to get crystal clear on your desired outcome for the next 8 weeks and beyond.
Group Coaching
Bi-weekly 90-minute sessions where we’ll support you in moving past your familiar stopping points. Learn through each other’s challenges in an intimate group of max. 18 participants.
Peer Support Calls
Bi-weekly calls with 1 or more other participant(s) to deepen connection and benefit from additional support between group coaching calls. We’ll provide a minimum structure for these calls and offer some suggestions for peer support practices.
1:1 Coaching
A 60-minute session to get personalised and focused support from Jonas, Jocelyn or Rich.
Tools and Practices
Over the course of our 8-week journey we will introduce a range of tools, lenses, practices and mental models that we’ve found helpful in our own work as transformational changemakers.
Access to a community of practice
You’ll be connected with the whole group and us through a group chat platform. Share successes, and challenges or ask for additional support at any time during and beyond the program.
This might not be a fit if
… you are looking for training on formal models of Leadership. We won’t be teaching you anything, but will help to uncover and deepen the wisdom that already lies within you.
… you are looking for a fully curated experience. The group experience and learning will be curated ‘live’ by the topics and challenges that participants bring in, rather than as a pre-designed curriculum of content.
… you are looking for therapy. Although some of our coaching tools are based on Internal Family Systems, this is not a therapy group. The main purpose is less about healing wounds from the past, and more about supporting you to take the next steps in your development as a leader.
… you are looking for consulting. We are not here to give you advice. Instead of providing you with our answers to your questions, we are here to support you to see the answers that are already within you clearly.
If you are unsure whether this offering is a fit for you, feel free to reach out via email or book a 15 minute interest chat and we’ll help you to clarify what you’re looking for and whether we can offer that.
Pricing Info
We envision a world where everyone has access to the support they need. Our sliding scale reflects that vision by supporting people to participate who could not otherwise do so.
We ask you to choose a payment level that is a stretch, but not a hardship:
€950 if you’re flourishing financially or if your organisation is paying
€750 if you’re living comfortably
€550 if it’s a stretch to be investing in this
If the lowest tier is inaccessible for you at this time, please email hello@jonasgroener.com and we will gladly do our best to work with you to find a strategy that holds all our needs with care. Payment plans and partial scholarships are two potential possibilities.
